Commemorates on:24 of January Saint Xeni was born in a wealthy and Christian family in the city of Rome, in Italy. Her Christian name was Eusebia. Xeni left her home and family to visit the tomb of Jesus in the Holy Land and explore her Christian faith. She ended up in the Greek island of Kos where she met the highly respected priest Paul. Paul gave her the name “Xeni” which in Greek means “foreign” or “stranger” and soon invited her to be the Deaconess of the Church. The Orthodox Church celebrate her feast day on January 24. |
