Commemorates on:22 of January Timothy is venerated as an apostle by the Greek Orthodox Church. Saint Timotheos is venerated as a saint by the Eastern Orthodox Church. He was a first century bishop and St Paul’s follower in many of his journeys. He is first mentioned in the Bible at the time St Paul visited Lystra for the second time, where Timothy is mentioned as a ‘disciple’. The Orthodox Church celebrates his feast on January 22. His name in Greek is “Τιμόθεος” and its means “honoring God.” |
